Tips for Choosing a Boat for your Le Boat Holiday
You’ve been dreaming of a barging holiday for some time now. After reading many of our travel posts and browsing through our holiday pictures on social media, you have now decided to book your Le Boat holiday!
While many customers call in and ask us to suggest a boat for them, nobody quite knows your needs and wants better than you. This is why we highly recommend you request a free brochure from us so you can make a more informed decision.
On that note, we have put together some helpful tips for choosing your perfect boat model for your barging trip!
How many people are you travelling with?
Big groups with more than 5 people
Our fleet can accommodate up to 10 people on a boat. These large boats only come in premier and comfort models, and we recommend parties with more than 5 people always choose a comfort, comfort-plus or premier boat. This is simply because you will be living on board this vessel for most likely a week. Space, design and comfort will be key factors to your experience.
We recommend:
The Horizon 5
The Horizon 5 is spacious and comfortable and part of our top of the line fleet! Perfect for summer cruising!
Couples
Barging trips can also be a fantastic romantic getaway option. Enjoying sundowners atop the deck in summer is just one of the beautiful moments you can enjoy together on a barge. If it’s just the two of you, we recommend choosing a 1 cabin boat and we have them in the ultra-chic Horizon to some classic budget options!
Two couples travelling should take into consideration the cabin layouts before making a decision. Not all cabins are the same size and be sure to look if there are enough bathrooms per room! Don’t forget this is supposed to be a romantic getaway!
We recommend:
The Horizon 2 for one couple
The Clipper for 2 couples
Premium or Budget?
What style of boat you choose will depend on your personal preference and budget. It will also largely rely on when you decide to book and availability during the season and destination. If you are looking to get a specific boat, we always recommend booking as soon as possible.
Electricity and power
Most boats come with a power voltage of 12 watts, and in Europe they accept the standard 2-prong plug. We do recommended that items such as blow-dryers or other appliances be used while the boat is moored and has access to a main.
Barging with children
Barging with little ones along the waterways is a wonderful experience. The boats are comfortable and safe. They are perfect for all family types even with babies.
We recommend:
The Caprice
The Caprice is available on most routes throughout Europe and is comfortable for a family of 4.
Cabins and Beds
In the boat layouts you will notice that there is usually only 1 double bed. On request, we can arrange beds to pushed together to be made into a double. An extra bed can also be made in the saloon area for one person.
